Treating gum disease is not always the easiest task. Once gum disease spreads throughout the mouth, an individual experiences discomfort in ways through their bleeding gums or increased sensitivity. It is important to be aware of ways to maintain good oral hygiene in order to prevent further damage from occurring. Whether you have gum disease, or you’re just trying to prevent it from occurring, follow these at home remedies!

  • Reduce Stress

Stress is one of the largest inhibitors of gum disease. According to the Academy of General Dentistry, there’s a large link between stress and your dental health. People under stress have a compromised immune system that makes it difficult for them to fight off the bacteria that causes gum disease. So, take some time to relax. Don’t stress too much or your teeth may suffer.

  • Sea Salt and Water Solution. Dissolve a small amount of sea salt and warm it up with some water. Swish this solution around your mouth in 30 second intervals. Salt water reduces swollen gums and draws infection out of abscesses.
  • Use some tea bags. Steep tea in boiling water, and then allow the tea bags to cool down. Hold the tea bag on the area and keep it there for about 5 five minutes.  Tannic acid found in tea will effectively relieve gum infection.
